Fiji Hotels by Region Our Recommended Resorts of the Month:
Search for All Fiji Resorts Fiji is made up of over 300 islands. The largest island is Viti Levu which is almost circular in shape and about 100 miles in diameter. The majority of tourists arrive at Nadi Airport on the west coast. Nadi lacks good beaches but it is an excellent base for exploring both the mountains and offshore islands. There are plenty of day tours and sights to see and lots of reasonably priced resorts and backpacker hostels. A few hours by road to the south is the Coral Coast. The beaches here are mostly very nice although not all areas have good swimming and snorkelling. There is an excellent variety of accommodation along the Coral Coast from large beach hotels to small luxury resorts and guesthouses, a few independant restaurants and plenty of day tours to explore the rainforest, rivers and traditional villages. The capital Suva on the south east coast is an excellent base for ecotourism with its magnificent mountains. The Mamanuca Group, just 10 miles off the west coast of Viti Levu, is the main centre for commercial tourism with more than a dozen small island resorts which focus on water activities, sunset cocktails and traditional night entertainment. Extending north from the Mamanuca Group is the Yasawa Islands. Yasawa offers excellent beaches with the country's only small ship cruises as well as three small luxury resorts. The Northern Islands and Southern Islands and Lomaiviti are all popular as ecotourism and scuba diving destinations catering to both backpackers and affluent holiday-makers. The southern islands also has some excellent surfing reefs.
